What We Believe

The Apostle's Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth,
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord,
Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary,
Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead, and buried.
He descended into hell; The third day He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit; The Holy catholic Church,
the Communion of Saints; The Forgiveness of sins;
The Resurrection of the body, And the Life everlasting.

This statement of faith, handed down through the ages,
encapsulates the foundation of our faith.

The Bible Is the Living Word of God

We believe that the Bible contains the Truth we are to live by.

From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible is our source of wisdom and instruction, as well as God's love letter to a hurting world. From the account of creation to the history of God's Chosen people to the birth of Jesus the long awaited Messiah, to his sacrifice on the cross and resurrection from the grave, to the gift of the Holy Spirit and the works of the apostles all the way to the judgment, wrath and new heaven and earth . . . what a treasure trove it holds for those who will study its contents.

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Hebrews 4:12 KJV

Regarding 0ur Relationship with the Lord

Precept upon precept, building a community of believers who not only know the Word of God, but do what it says.

"But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves." James 1:22 KJV

Worship

Psalm 95:2-3

Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods.

John 4:23-24

Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.

Prayer

Jeremiah 33:3

Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.

Matthew 7:7-8

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

Matthew 16:19

Obey Jesus' Commands

Baptism

John 3:5

Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.”

Luke 3:16

John answered them all, saying, “I baptize you with water, but He who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”

Regarding our Relationship with the World

How we engage the word around us, how we treat believers, how we raise our families reflects what we believe.

Sharing the Good News

Romans 10:14-15

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

John 14:6

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Pure Religion

James 1:27

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Philippians 2:3

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

1John 2:17 & 3:18

And the world passes away, and the lust thereof: but he that does the will of God abides for ever.

My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

Love One Another

1 John 4:10-11

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

1John 4:21

And this commandment have we from him, That he who loves God love his brother also.

Forgive

Luke 17:3-4

Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.

And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.

Ephesians 4:32

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Regarding our Relationships with Believers

And we are to treat the body of believers as joint heirs in the Kingdom of God.

In One Accord

Ephesians 4:4-6

There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling

One Lord, one faith, one baptism

One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Colossians 3:11

Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

Serve Each Other

Ephesians 5:21

Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

Mark 10:42-45

Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:

And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Bearing the Fruit of the Spirit

Matthew 7:17-20

Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

Every tree that brings not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

Galatians 5:22-23

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Dead to Sin, Alive to the Spirit

Romans 6:6

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Galatians 5:25

If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
